NIGHT ROUTINE
Your evening routine is about repair — removing everything the day put on your skin, treating your specific concerns while you sleep, replenishing lost moisture, and reinforcing the barrier that keeps your skin healthy long term. Four steps. The most important routine of the two.
Evening cleansing is more thorough than morning — you're removing SPF, pollution, sebum, and any makeup that's accumulated through the day. For heavy SPF or makeup users, a double cleanse works best: an oil or balm cleanser first to break everything down, followed by a gentle water-based cleanser to finish clean. Massage oil cleanser onto dry skin, emulsify with water, rinse. Follow with water-based cleanser on damp skin.
Night is your active ingredient window — your skin is in repair mode and absorbs treatment products most effectively while you sleep. Pick the serum that matches your primary concern. Don't layer multiple actives when starting out — one targeted treatment used consistently will outperform three competing ones every time. Apply to clean skin before moisturiser. Use one treatment at a time. Do not layer retinol with AHAs or BHAs on the same night.
A dedicated hydrating layer — applied before your moisturiser — replenishes the water your skin loses throughout the day and supports the repair work happening overnight. Look for hyaluronic acid, glycerin, or a hydrating serum that sinks in quickly and preps skin for the final sealing step. Apply to slightly damp skin and pat in gently. Layer before your night cream for maximum absorption.
Your final step — and one of the most important. A richer night cream or barrier-repair moisturiser seals everything in and actively supports your skin's overnight recovery. Look for ceramides, peptides, or fatty acids that rebuild and reinforce the barrier. A strong barrier means less sensitivity, less water loss, and better results from every other step in your routine.
